A member asked:

What steroids do they use for carpal tunnel and tennis elbow?

Can vary: Historically, most docs used cortisone, but there are many newer steroids, and oral Prednisolone or intravenous methyl-prednisolone are used more often by my colleagues. For cts or extensor tendinitis, we still might directly inject cortisone.

Any: There is no definitive data to suggest one steroid medication works any better than another. I prefer to use celestone (betamethasone) and when we run out if that I use dexamethasone. Neither is typically used for epidural injections and I have heard no reports of contamination of these products.
