A member asked:

Got diagnosed with a uti, and they gave me 500 milligrams cipro, (ciprofloxacin) and a few hours after taking my first dose i have had some joint pain is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Quinolones: The fluorinated quinolones, including Ciprofloxacin have been implicated infrequently in creating tendon damage. This can create joint pain, but improbable within hours after a first dose. Many questions about whether your UTI could actually be gonorrhea or was somehow otherwise associated with acute arthritis. See your doctor.
