Pericoronitis: Inflammation and infection around the crown of an unerupted tooth is called pericoronitis. Hydrogen peroxide can sometimes alleviate discomfort and mechanically debride the area and kill some of the bacteria causing the discomfort. Salt water can also help with the irritation.
