A member asked:

How do you treat short stature and how to prevent the closing of the bones (hand x-ray 16 yr)- will this allow the boy (14 real age) to grow?

Can't treat height: He may merit a pediatric endocrine evaluation if he hasn't had one yet and he is short. However, with a bone age of 16, he may only have an inch of growth left. Growth plates are nearly fused in boys with a bone age of 16.

Not likely: If the growing plates are closed further growth is unlikely. Talk to a pediatric endocrinologist.
