A member asked:

Is bone age always the same for every bone?ie,if a wrist x-ray showed a delay in bone age of 2 years, would face /skull bones also be delayed 2 years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily, but: B"sd thats a very insightful question. Generaly, endocrinologist accept that the bone age determined from 1 hand /wrist x ray applies to the whole body. Although, not necesarrily true, bone age os determined is clinicaly useful to identify growth delay and can be used to indicate further evaluation and to follow changes over time. So the test seems to serve its purpose. Always glad to discuss.
