Umbilical hernia: Probably not. However the previously undetected hernia is now diagnosed. So it is understandable to make this connection. Okay to ask your doc. At some point, your daughter will want to get the hernia repaired.

No: Umbilical (navel) hernias result from incomplete closing of the navel opening-which occurs late in the maturation of the fetus. It is very common. Raising the pressure in the abdomen ( as in colonoscopy) can push out fat, or if the defect is large, even intestines and cause pain, discomfort or intestinal blockage. See a general surgeon for evaluation.

No: She almost certainly had a hernia beforehand. The relationship to the colonoscopy is almost certainly co-incidental.
