Test Aldo bad HTN: Testing renin and aldosterone may reveal that your BP is being driven by either your kidneys or your adrenals. And will suggest the best treatment. There may also be a surgical cure for either cause and some other causes that may turn up with proper testing. You want what is called an aldo/renin ratio with a simultaneous 24 hr urine for Na, K, Creat, aldosterone, cortisol and catecholamines.
