If new, pain ; worry: If hypertension did not exist previously, and the surgery was recent, then discomfort and worry leads to physiologic (; normal) responses that may elevate bp. Some medications given for pain can also cause elevated bps as an adverse effect. Mastectomies per se are not likely to have a direct impact on blood pressure, unlike surgeries involving other organ systems.
