No pros: If you have garden variety flat feet there is absolutely no benefit to proceeding with surgery.

Flat feet: If you are having unremitting pain that has not been alleviated any other way , then surgery may be a choice. Speak freely to your surgeon about this as it should not be approached lightly . As stated , if it the 'garden variety' orthotics should help a lot

PROS AND CONS: Pros: Reserved for the person with LOTS of pain affecting Activities of Daily Living and not controlled with shoe modifications or orthoses. Cons: FF surgery in an adult is more complex, involving more post-op rehab and healing time than a child. You'll need time off work. Probably crutches or walker. Like any surgery, there is no guarantee of success. Have an open discussion with your surgeon
