Post-tussive emesis: What you are describing is called post-tussive emesis (=after coughing vomiting). It is a common phenomenon where you cough so much you trigger your gag reflex which then causes you to throw up. If you have vomiting when you lie down, most likely you are having some intense post-nasal drip running down your throat causing you to vomit. I would see a doc if things aren't getting better for you.

Post tussive emesis: This year, i would get checked for whooping cough. Other possibilities include severe reflux, a hiatal hernia(your stomach sticking up into your chest cavity), and more. See your doc for a diagnosis.
