Metal & exposure: Sounds like you have an exposed portion of your the teeth with the "grill" being placed. Also the metal the the grill is composed of can transmit cold and hot sensations more easily to the teeth.

Pressure: It is possible that your "grill" does not fit perfectly, and is putting pressure on your teeth. This pressure is making them sore.

Pressure: Pressure may cause pain by not fitting properly. If you want your teeth to rot out keep wearing your grill. Not sure if a life time of teeth problems is worth it, but its your life!
