It: Generally does not. In my practice we make sure all the pre op instructions are followed and most importantly the post op instructions. Our patients generally need Motrin 3x/day for three days and experience little or no swelling/bruising if they follow all instructions. We generally do them on a thur and patients are back in the world on mon.

Depends: There probably will be some discomfort for a few days. However, pain medications can get you through this time period.

Varies: Post operative pain is generally related to the trauma incurred during the procedure. The trauma is related to the preoperative condition of the surgical site. If a wisdom tooth is impacted by soft tissue less trauma occurs than if it is impacted in bone. If the tooth is erupted there is even less trauma. The best information can be gained by discussing your case with your oral surgeon.
