Diet: Diet after bowel resection is determined by surgeon's preference and time after surgery. Contact your surgeon's office for detailed clarification. Before that consider the same type of food you had on the day of discharge from the hospital.

That's right: Typically you should take a bland diet with low fiber. The quantity that you should take is usually half of what you would be a custom to eating for a full size meal before your operation. If you have any nausea or vomiting you should stick with liquids for 8 hours before resuming solids. Check with your surgeon to see if there any other special considerations based on your operation.
