High complex carbs: For endurance training you need to store alot of glycogen in your muscles. Glycogen comes from carbohydrates in your diet. Thats why you hear the term carbohydrate loading before a big race. More carbs, more glycogen, longer endurance due to breakdown of glycogen to glucose in the blood and energy for the muscles.
