High carbohydrate: A high complex carbohydrate diet will help you build glycogen stores in your muscles which you will need for long distance running. Try to make 60-70% of your diet from complex carbohydrates such as pasta, rice, etc. 10-15% of your calories from protein and 10-15% from fat- mostly unsaturated fat such as olive oil, canola oil or sunflower seed oils.
