No : Fibroids are benign tumors that grow in the uterus. In general they will continue to grow at various pace throughout your fertile years related to your hormone levels. There are rare instances that a fibroid can undergo a process of torsion where it twists on itself. This is a relatively urgent situation that is very painful and could require urgent surgery. Fibroids can be painful and cramp.
