Yes: Anxiety can cause many physical symptoms including shortness of breath, chest pain, racing heart, nausea, hot flashes and dizziness. Sometimes we use beta blockers (like atenolol) to treat anxiety.

Managing anxiety:: The most effective treatment for anxiety is relaxation training coupled with cognitive therapy that helps you modify the thoughts, perceptions and beliefs that trigger the anxiety. You can learn these skills on your own, but having a mental health professional "coach" you is quicker and more effective. Biofeedback helps (www.Bcia.Org, www.Aapb.Org). Meds alone are not the best solution.

Sinus tach: If you just had sinus tachycardia temporarily while you had your ekg, it is almost certainly meaningless. You can take your pulse when you are relaxed. If your heart rate is less than 100, you should forget about the ekg result. However, if your heart rate is always near or greater than 100, you need to have thyroid disease, anemia, and other potential causes ruled out.
