See your doctor...: Optic nerve ischemia (stroke) typically doesn't present with pain, nor does glaucoma. Optic neuritis or inflammatory conditions involving the optic nerve may warrant urgent treatment, particularly if you are experiencing vision changes. If your symptoms are unilateral and acute, i would call your ophthalmologist tonight.

Blind painful eye: If you have pain in your blind eye, you can try a low dose topical steroid and Atropine once daily. If that does not work, retrobulbar injections or eye removal can be considered. If the intraoculsr pressure is high, this can be treated as well. See an eye doctor for further evaluation.
