Collapsed lung: If the stab penetrates into the chest it may collapse the lung - a condition known as pneumothorax. Other stab related damage in the chest could include an injury to the heart, blood in the chest and damage to nerves that control the function of the diaphragm. These only occur if the stabwound penetrates deeper than skin and muscle.
