Yes--But?: We usually take in more calories that we need. If one decreases caloric intake by 500 calories per day, they should lose 1/2 pound per week or 26 pounds in a year. Decreasing by 1, 000 calories a day will cause one to lose 52 #'s a year. Radical diets will cause you to lose more but be cautioned on the health risks. The first 10-15 pounds may be water and salt loss and not fat loss! caution!

Wouldn't advise it: Even if it's possible, I wdn't advise it. Better to lose 1-1.5 lbs/wk (mod wt loss) by changing habits & diet. That's ~15-20 lbs in 14 weeks (98 days). To lose more wt, often u have 2 crash diet or exercise madly. Crash diets ultimately result in MORE wt in the long-run that's harder to lose. Extreme exercise can b dangerous & injurious when unsupervised. If morbidly obese, seek surgical advice.

Yes it is: It depends on your weight and your BMI as well as your fat percentage/ muscle percentage. Many people under supervision of Bariatrician can lose 2-3 lbs a week. Exercise, no sugary beverages, low high index carbohydrates, low calorie diet and restful night sleep
