It could: Magnesium is a well-tolerated supplement with few side effects that may be helpful for anxiety. As a single therapy, it has not been well evaluated, but three human studies of magnesium in combination with other vitamins, minerals and herbal extracts have all shown reduction of anxiety levels.

Anxiety: Taking supplements such as magnesium can help alleviate anxiety. This on its own is not a cure. The first thing is to ascertain the nature of anxiety with a good history , following that a comprehensive work up to rule out other systemic causes for anxiety. If the anxiety is purely psychiatric then a mixed approach of treatment with medicines and therapy is recommended. Refer to nimh , nami.
