The : The limitations of submental liposuction are set by the amount of fat, skin, location of your hyoid bone, submental gland location and the expertise of the surgeon. Unfortunately without images it is difficult to offer specifics as related to your neck, but the parameters of expectations can be determined during a consultation. Be healthy and be well, james m. The : The limitations to liposuction under the chin is mainly related to your underlying anatomy. This includes your neck muscle attachments, current level of fat, and skin quality.

Improved contour: The contour of your neck and jaw line depends partly on the amount of fat under the chin. The rest is due to your bony jaw, the position of your chin and your hyoid bone. If you have retruded chin, lipo will not give you a sculpted neck. Also, the amount of your skin laxity matters. If you have extra skin, as well as extra fat, you may need a neck lift too.

Discuss with surgeon: The limitation of chin liposuction is that it cannot address the excess or loose skin and it cannot address the fat below the muscles or the laxity of the muscles. As for the jawline, liposuction can improve the contour to a variable extent dependant on the excess facial and neck skin and platysma. The best person to give you an informed advice is your plastic surgeon.

Microliposculpture: Submental liposuction (or microliposculpture) is a minimally invasive technique for removing excess deposits of fat under the chin. It can improve the look of a double chin, make the angle between your chin and neck more attractive, and define your jawline. It is not a neck lift, though, so it will not address extra loose skin, neck bands, or facial sagging.
