Maybe, maybe not: In a couple, where one had mono before, and the other did not, there are several possibilities. Maybe the non-mono person caught ebv virus long ago with few symptoms, and now has immunity. Maybe the mono person had a mono-like illness but not from ebv, so she has no ebv to spread to the non-mono person. Since there is no way to stop the spread of ebv in a kissing couple, blood tests aren't needed.
