No good answers: First, once you are infected with EBV, the virus that causes Mono, you will carry it for the rest of your life, although it is latent meaning it does not cause symptoms. Because the virus is still in your body, there is always the chance that you can pass it to others. Most people become infected with EBV at some time during their life, so there is a chance that your boyfriend is already infected.

Mono is infectious: Unfortunately it's possible that people who have had mono can spread the virus even though they no longer have symptoms. It's advisable that you and your boyfriend keep your immune systems strong with good nutrition and adequate rest.
