A member asked:

My new girlfriend had mono some years ago, can i get mono by kissing her now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: People are most contagious in the first weeks of mono but their infectivity drops by a month or so for most. However, this is from a family of viruses well known to hibernate & reappear. She could shed virus off and on.The other issue is your own susceptibility. Many have this as an undiagnosed "viral" illness as kids and become immune. So your risk is small but there unknown factors at play.
