I : I have performed hundreds of "zoom" whitenings and most have no sensitivity but some have a transient sensitivity that lasts about 24 hours. Not much longer if all is done right. A few advil (ibuprofen) or other mild otc pain reliever usually does the trick during that period.

Sensitive teeth?: If you have sensitive teeth, zoom can cause pain. It is very sort lived. I've been doing zoom for 3+ yrs and i had the worst reaction of any patient. Later that day my teeth were very sensitive and i was getting electrical shocks and throbbing pain. It lasted about 5-6 hours. Ibuprofen helped greatly. The next day, my teeth were a good bit more sensitive than usual, but by the lunch-time, gone.
