In : In office light (laser or uv) activated tooth whitening does not cause damage to the teeth or gums in the hands of a competent clinician. You may experience a temporary tooth sensitivity but it usually subsides within 24 hours and can easily be managed by otc pain meds.

No : No permanent damage is done with the whitening processes in the dental office, but there can be some tenderness. This is normally due to desiccation or dehydration and normally only lasts for 24 and sometimes 48 hours. After the teeth re-hydrate, everything returns to normal.

It docent!: Teeth whitening completed by a professional will not damage your teeth. In fact there has never been a documented case of teeth whitening gels damaging the enamel. The sensitivity comes from dehydration of the tooth which causes inflammation of the nerve tissue. Use a Fluoride gel immediately after the procedure and you should see less sensitivity!

Not much: There are some changes that can be found at a microscopic level but nothing serious. If properly done laser whitening won't harm your gums. The sensitivity that you will get from your teeth will go away in a day or two.
