Floss : Floss is floss, and there are two kinds - waxed or unwaxed. Waxed is a little easier to get into tight contacts, but both are effective. Also, the various styles (tape, thread, etc) all work well. The key is that no matter what type you pick, it just has to be used or there will be no benefit. The point of flossing is to remove the food particles between the teeth that your toothbrush can't get to into order to prevent inflammation and irritation to the gum tissue from bacteria (swollen, bleeding gums, and/or bone loss in adults). The floss itself does not do anything to the gums. It is your preference for the type! great news that you are starting the habit early!

No: Flosses are many and varied. Waxed or untaxed floss or tape flavored or not your dentist will recommend which is best for you which may differ from your children.

2 kinds: Waxed or untaxed. Comes in various thicknesses. Some floss comes with cute holders that help a child manage. Ask your dentist to recommend best kind for your child. Much more important than the kind is frequency of use...Must floss every day. Kudos to your dentist.
