It can wait: If you are not experiencing severe pain or visible swelling of your face this problem can wait until normal business hours. Just be careful eating on that side as not to break the tooth more in the meantime.

Simple Solution: Visit your dentist at your convenience for evaluation and treatment options. The sugarless gum can be placed over the rough edge until the dentist can be reached.

Can Wait: Tooth or filling chipped off ? Unless you are in significant pain or this is cutting your lip / tongue it is safe to wait until Monday. You should call the office and leave a message so they will know about this and can plan for your emergency visit. If too sharp it is possible to smooth using one of the thick 2 sided cushiony nail files (not metal), very carefully and conservatively. Good Luck.

Calculus: What chipped off was probably Calculus (Tarter). Unless you are in pain, or if there is bleeding or swelling, it can wait until Monday.
