A member asked:

How long does swelling last after a septoplasty? and is it visible swelling, or mostly inside your nose? i don't want to go out in public until it's not noticeable, because i don't want to have to explain that septoplasty is not the same thing as a nose j

A : A standard septoplasty uses an internal incision and doesn't tylically lead to external nasal swelling. Talk to your surgeon about what type of dressing he or she uses as this shuold give you a more accurate sense of what to expect after your surgery.

There : There is very little swelling on the outside if you are only having a septum done. The swelling on the septum should be gone for the most part in 3-4 weeks.www.beautybybrueck.com.

Most : Most of the swelling after a rhinoplasty is during the first 10 days and that is one of the reasons why a splint is placed on the nose. After the initial swelling, there is some residual swelling that may take a long time, but it is not noticed by the majority of people, so you should be able to go to work after 10 days and do most of the routine things.
