Since : Since dental sealents fill the groves of the posterior teeth they can affect his bite and make his teeth feel uncomfortable. Typically, with normal chewing the extra sealent material can wear away and just leave the groves sealed. Avoid foods that are too sticky with sealents. The normal time to adjust is 7-10 days. However, if he is uncomfortable and will not eat, I am sure that your dentist who placed them will adjust his bite and smooth them down to make them feel more normal. Just call and get him in as soon as possible. Good luck.

This : This is an unusual response, because the placing of sealants on the tooth, like placing a filling, should feel absolutely normal when it is complete. The only thing that might feel different is that the contour of a nice new filling, or of dental sealants is that will feel smooth. So I am perplexed. I would strongly suggest that you call up your dentist and ask him to re-evaluate your son's dental work and see what could possibly be causing the problem. Sealant is too high: Sometimes, unintentionally, the dentist or hygienist may apply the sealant too thick. Usually this adjusts on its own after a day or two of eating if it is only slightly high. If it is very thick, however, the dentist needs to adjust it in the office. Go back to the dentist's office, they should adjust these at no cost to you. If done correctly the patient does not feel the sealant at all.
