A member asked:

Have dental sealants for children been tested for longperiod of time? are they safe?

Dental Sealatns: Dental sealants have been around for many years and have been proven to help reduce the incidence of caries/decay in children when placed correctly and checked periodically. The best way to benefit from sealants is make sure the seams of the sealants are checked often at periodic dental visits and if there is a chip or void in the sealant which can occur, have the process repeated as indicated.

Sealants: Dental sealants have been around for over 30 years. The evolution of sealants have advanced to stronger- bonded and durable resins that prevent the most common dental cavites in children. The newest resin sealants do not contain any carcinogenic elements that may harm the child. I put them on my children and my grandchildren.
