How common is it to have dental sealants on all of your teeth?

Uncommon: Dental sealants are usually placed on posterior teeth or those teeth with pits and fissures. Anterior teeth usually do not have pits and fissures and thus would not retain sealants well.

Common on many: Common to have sealants placed on back teeth to fill-in deep grooves which are more susceptible to decay.

Not on all of them: It is common now (past 20 years) for children to have sealants on their 1st and 2nd permanent molars as these teeth have the deepest grooves and therefore benefit from sealants the most. Occasionally we will seal the tongue side of upper front teeth, premolars or back baby teeth if they have deep grooves. Sealants do not work on smooth tooth surfaces. It is uncommon to seal all the teeth.
