Is it possible to be allergic to dental sealants? our eight year old daughter got dental sealants for the first time three weeks ago, and since then has been complaining about having "an itchy mouth". i looked in her mouth, and it maybe looks a little red

Dental : Dental sealants are made from a flowable bonding material and agent. There is always a possibility, but highly unlikely. Her bite may be a bit off, doesn't feel comfortable, and that's how she is explaining it to you. She can always be seen by the dentist who placed the sealants to make sure everything is ok.

I've : I've never heard of lergic reactions to sealants.....But that itchy sensation for three weeks it's something i would be worry about specially if you see some redness, so please call her dentist and make an appointment asap. Best of luck...

Not from sealants: Although anything's possible, allergic reaction to sealants not probable. Could be from over contoured sealant, allergic reaction to food/new toothpaste/environmental allergens/etc. Please call your dentist.
