I : I think the most important thing for you to is to try to control the discoid lupus in order to prevent the formation of new scars. It will involve close follow up with your dermatologist as well as the constant tweaking of a topical and possible systemic regimen of medications. The typical management is with topical steroids and sometimes oral antimalarial medications. You should have sunscreen on hand at all times in the least. It is likely that your scarring is more from the discoid lupus than the steroid.
