5 to 10 days: In general within 5 to 7 days most of the swelling is gone but some bruises may persist longer. Makeup can help to cover the bruise. The post operative care and diet makes a big difference in the swelling and bruise recovery.

1 week or so: Swelling usually lasts about a week or so, bruising can last for up to two weeks. Typically makeup can conceal the bruising as well. The amount of swelling and bruising is very variable, however, and there are many things you can do to decrease the swelling and improve your recovery time. A good icing regimen, avoidance of certain medications, and supplements (like arnica), can all help.

Not that long: Upper eyelid surgery is generally associated with very little swelling. Sutures are removed at 4-5 days postoperatively and almost all swelling is gone by 10 days. Lower lid surgery is more involved and more likely to be associated with more significant bruising and swelling. Even here, most of the swelling should be gone by 2-3 weeks.
