Varies: Biological response to surgery varies but swelling of the tissue lasting more than 2-4 days after cataract surgery is unusual and requires evaluation. If this is happening, you should contact your operating surgeon for an evaluation, especially if there is pain, bleeding or redness or the vision is dropping.

May be normal: Temporary swelling of the eye after cataract surgery can be normal. Depending on where the swelling is, it could last from 1 day to a few weeks. If it is persistent, please see your cataract surgeon to see what is going on.
