Yes: There are many different types of breast lifts. Many are accompanied by placement of saline or silicone breast implants. Heavy smoking, a history of infections and possibly a strong family history of breast cancer are each relative contraindications to a breast lift. Most of my patients have successfully breast fed after the procedure so a desire to breast feed is not a contraindication.

Risks to consider: A breast lift typically involves removing some skin so there are scars that will be permanent. Most patients consider it a good trade-off and the scars fade but you need to accept those. Many plastic surgeons will not do breast lifts on smokers due to the higher chances of healing problems. Overweight patients are also more likely to experience surgical complications.

General health: No contraindications in generally healthy women. Smoking, diabetes, hypertension, etc., will put you at higher risks for complications from any surgery including a lift.

Yes: I won't perform a breast lift on a pregnant or nursing patient. I also refrain from any patients that smoke. Obviously any patient that is not a surgical candidate for an elective operation is also ruled out.
