Multiple answers: Grinding may be caused by stress, an imperfect bite, or by medication. To cure grinding may be very difficult. I recommend a night guard to prevent the harmful effects of grinding, made by your dentist. For the best answer for you i would visit your dentist.

Bruxism: Is a parafunctional habit that can be caused by stress, tension, psychological disorder, nervousness, ear infection, upper airway obstruction, some antidepressant drugs.., sometimes unknown. It can start from birth and in some cases, it goes away if the cause is resolved. Oral appliances, e.g. Splint can protect the TMJ and dentition. Other appliances can also prevent sleep apnea and snoring.

Often times--STRESS: It sounds like you are experiencing temporomadibular joint disorder. This disorder can come and go throughout a lifetime or become constant. Signs of tmd are pain in the jaw, ear aches, headaches, popping and clicking, and can cause your jaw to lock. This condition is usually brought on by stress, however can develop overtime if your dental bite is not properly aligned. I suggest a prosthodontist.

Agree with night app: Several reasons for teeth grinding. If your body is going through temporary or chronic stress your brain takes it out on your teeth at night. There are a few daytime clenchers , grinders, i treat that catch themselves doing it at their computer or at a stressful time during the day. Night guards fabricated by your dds for your personal condition can take stress off your teeth, jaw muscle, joints.
