Followup with doctor: The pesence of penile pain in a patient with an indwelling catheter may be due to catheter irritation or infection. The dark coloured urine most likely represents blood in the urine. If your father has bladder cancer, this would not be an unusual. However, a change in the characteristics of the urine from his usual baseline requires further investigation including urine cultures.
