Fairly common: It is fairly common for patients with catheters to develop urine infections or hematuria, which is blood in urine. The catheter is to stay for the minimum amount of time that is needed. If it becomes chronic replacing it every 3-4 weeks is critical in order to avoid catheter associated infections.
