Why do you ask?: There's no certainty here because nobody truly knows when risky behavior / exposure has occurred. If your question is really, "I only had one exposure, it's six months ago, and I just tested negative using a nucleic acid test", then my answer is, "Be thankful for good health."

Hi Dr, how accurate is the antibody part of a 4th generation test at detecting hiv-2 at 38 days post exposure since p24 is not detectable on hiv-2. Doc has said I am conclusive about my negative status. Exposure was in Thailand.
If 4th gen hiv tests for antigens of hiv they would spike up around 7 days. Why do doctors on here recommend conclusive results at 6 weeks or 12? antigen levels go down after 1 month for antibodies to appear. 4 weeks should be conclusive for 4th Gen?
