I have been tested for hiv by third generation test at at 3 and 6 months mark and tested again for hiv,hcv antibody at eight months from my exposure date,all came negative. some doctors said that i have to wait for one year to be sure. is that true ?

No, not true. According to CDC and nearly all HIV/AIDS experts, the newer (third generation) HIV antibody tests detect 100% of HIV infections by about 8 weeks after exposure. Some experts still recommend final testing at 3 months to provide an additional margin of safety, but it never takes longer than that. (With the AgAb i.e. 4th generation tests, 45 days is conclusive.
