Yes: Absolutely! good sleep "hygiene" is one component of maintaining good mental health. It reduces stress which is also important in maintaining good physical health as well.

Likely: Your body does best with routines -- especially sleep. 8 - 9 hours is recommended for everyone ! the body repairs itself when sleeping. Growth hormone is secreted while sleeping and all the benefits of it result. When well rested, you are able to do better in all things, mental and physical. Good luck with the routine.
