Many proven benefits: There are many types of supplements but most contain essential nutrients &/or herbs. Supplements have proven beneficial in both preventing & treating a wide variety of diseases, including heart disease, cancer, arthritis, digestive disorders, eye problems, anxiety, depression, insomnia etc. They are often as or more effective than pharmaceuticals and often much safer & less expensive. Supplements can help people of any age. I find them very safe and effective in treating a wide variety of illnesses and even at your age may help prevent illness. Unfortunately, most MD's know very little about supplements as they are not emphasized in medical training, which strongly focuses on drugs and surgery. However, there is a large body of science on the benefits of supplements. Many MD's do seek out postgraduate training in this field. I believe you are fortunate to have found a doctor who is knowledgeable in this field. Please feel free to ask your MD for more information about why he is recommending particular supplements for you.

Bad breakfasts 6 bad snacks 7. Large portions these are in order, so just pick the top 2 that apply to u and make better choices, & keep up the exercising.

Daily vitamins: The best supplement for you is a prenatal vitamin, this is recommended for all women during reproductive years in case of pregnancy. Also an iron containing supplement would help to prevent or treat some forms of anemia. Remember no supplement can replace a nutrient rich whole foods diet, so do the best you can to eat your vitamins.

It depends...: This depends on what your diet is like, exposure to environmental toxins, genetics etc. Vitamins are no substitute for a healthy diet, but I advise a quality multivit,, ideally with natural E (avoid synthetic E) & the 5-MTHF form of folate, (folic acid) without additives like titanium dioxide or polyethylene glycol. Extra Vit D is wise too, depending on how much sun you get, and fish oil if you don't eat fish.
