Depends: If the surgery is early in the morning, it does not matter. If laterin the day, the pills may induce low blood sugars since you are not allowed to eat. At our surgicenter, we tell our patients not to take their diabetic pills until after surgery on that day.

No need to take it: Diabetic usually advised to not take their diabetic pills before the surgery since you will be fasting. You can resume after the surgery. But the patient is advised to take their blood pressure meds with sip of water before surgery.
