Yes: Well, it is no less safe than those who have both eyes, but obviously no one wants to operate on a lone eye if there is no real problem. If it is truly symptomatic and causing impaired quality of life, it should be removed. Unless there was a problem with cataract surgery in the other eye, there should be no increased risk.
