Management vs cure: If a thyroid isn't working right, and replacement thyroid medicine is needed, it usually is needed for life. You are right, this doesn't cure the problem it treats it, and the proper management with medications leads to normal health and function.

Maybe: It really depends on the reason why one is hypothyroid. If it is due to environmental toxicicity, such as heavy metals or endocrine disrupters, avoiding exposure and decreasing toxic load may help and your thyroid may recover in time. But it is not easy, and you need a skilled doctor to help you.
