Hypothyroid 45 yr female....got a q tsh=1.3 a1c=5.9 for entire last year (never been overwt in my life, run 50 miles/wk....still!) bp=98/66; rhr=43; bodyfat=18% 5'6/45yrs/134/f is my thyroid med (synthyroid) causing glucose to rise? been on it since 2006

Thyroid is fine: Since your TSH is normal you are on the correct dose of thyroid hormone. A1c of 5.9% does not mean your glucose is elevated as it is borderline and not indicative of diabetes. A fasting blood glucose would be a better test and it that is above 100 your doctor can order a oral glucose tolerance test

Thyroid does not: cause diabetes. Your healthy life style has kept your glucose in a prediabetic range over the past 9 years rather than developing diabetes. Continue whatyou are doing.
