A member asked:

Can hypothyroidism heal by itself? had hypothyroid in wa. put on meds. few months later moved to ca.went to get meds dr's say its gone still feel ill

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: There are some temporary causes for hypothyroidism (subacute thyroiditis, early hashimoto's thyroiditis, iodine deficiency). If your thyroid level was initially only mildly low (tsh was only mildly elevated), you could have had a temporary cause. If thyroid levels are currently normal off medication, and you still have symptoms, you need to look for a different cause for those symptoms.
